Proclamation in Recognition of
NATIONAL VETERANS & MILITARY FAMILIES MONTH
November 2024
WHEREAS, Veterans & Military Families Month was established in 1996 by the
Armed Services YMCA, and each November, the President signs a
proclamation declaring November National Veterans & Military
Families Month; and
WHEREAS, National Veterans & Military Families Month honors not only our
veterans but also the strength and support of their families who stand
alongside them; and
WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael is proud to join the nation in honoring the service
and sacrifice of the brave men and women who have worn the uniform
of the United States Armed Forces; and
WHEREAS, the sacrifices made by veterans and their families deserve our deepest
gratitude, for their unwavering dedication and commitment to
defending the freedoms and values we hold dear; and
WHEREAS, military families provide a foundation of love, support, and resilience to
those in service, often facing their own challenges of separation,
relocation, and uncertainty; and
WHEREAS, We honor the stalwart courage and resolve of veteran families caring for
their loved ones when their service in uniform concludes, and grieve
alongside the families of the fallen; and
WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael is committed to supporting veterans and military
families to ensure they have access to the resources and opportunities
they need to thrive.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council of the City of San Rafael
hereby proclaim November 2024, as National Veterans & Military Families Month, and
encourages all community members to join in expressing appreciation to our veterans, service
members, and their families for their selfless service and commitment to our country.
