RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING THE SAN RAFAEL CITY SAFETY
COMMISSION AND PRESCRIBING THE DUTIES THEREOF
WHEREAS, it is in the best public interest to prevent accidents
involving the personnel and equipment of the City of San Rafael, and
WHEREAS, it is deemed necessary to establish a commission for
the purpose of investigating such accidents and determining the best
methods for preventing future accidents,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of San Rafael as follows:
1. There is hereby established the San Rafael City Safety
Commission consisting of the following members: City Manager and
representatives of the Police, Fire, Public Works, Building and Recreation
and Park Departments.
2. It is the duty of the San Rafael City Safety Commission
to investigate and determine the cause of accidents involving personnel
or equipment of the City of San Rafael and to recommend procedures
and practices which will reduce said accidents. Upon request of the
City Manager, the Commission shall investigate practices and procedures
concerning safety programs in any department of the City and shall
report its findings and recommendations to the City Manager for
appropriate action.
3.,, The Commission shall have the following powers:
a. To require any City employee to appear before said
Commission in connection with any accident or unsafe
practices affecting any personnel or equipment of the
City of San Rafael.
b. To schedule meetings and adopt such rules of procedure
as may be necessary to carry out its duties as outlined above.
c. To recommend solutions and/or equipment necessary to
maintain safe practices.
4. The City Manager or his duly appointed representative
shall serve as chairman of the San Rafael City Safety Commission, and
the Administrative Assistant shall serve as secretary of said Commission.
The Secretary shall keep the minutes of all meetings and perform such
other duties as may be assigned by the Commission.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was duly
and regularly adopted by the City Council of the City of San Rafael
at a regular meeting of said City Council held on the 4th day of
December, 1961, by the following vote:
