HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Resolution 3100RESOLUTION NO. 3100 RESOLUTION URGING COMPLETION OF ECONOMIC AND ENGINEERING STUDIES LEADING TO CONSTRUCTION OF A SECOND CROSSING FROM SAN FRANCISCO TO MARIN COUNTY. WHEREAS, the anticipated, annual practical capacity of twenty-five million motor vehicles per year is expected to be reached by mid -1965 on the Golden Gate Bridge, and WHEREAS, the annual increase of motor vehicles approximates 7% per year over the Golden Gate Bridge, and WHEREAS, the economic, social and recreational growth and development of all Redwood Empire Counties is dependent upon adequate transportation across the Golden Gate between Marin and San Francisco Counties, and WHEREAS, to date feasibility studies have not been completed to ascertain pertinent economic and engineering facts, and WHEREAS, anticipated time for construction of another crossing from San Francisco to Marin County will be seven to eight years, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of San Rafael strongly urges the California State Department of Public Works and the Board of Directors of the Golden Gate Bridge and Highway District to accelerate in every way possible the completion of economic and engineering studies, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that should financing be unavailable from State or Federal sources, the City Council requests, if legal, that reserves of the Golden Gate Bridge and Highway District be loaned or granted to the appropriate agency for the purposes of speedily carrying out needed studies leading to construction of a second crossing from San Francisco to Marin County. I, W. L. MORGAN, Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of said City held on Monday, the 3rd day of August, 1964, by the following vote, to -wit: AYES: COUNCILMEN Aby, Baar, Barbier, Jensen and Mayor McInnis NOES: None ABSENT: None O �W.
