HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Resolution 3291RESOLUTION NO. 3291 RESOLUTION DESIGNATING THE CIVIC CENTER BRANCH OF THE SAN RAFAEL POST OFFICE, MARIN COUNTY, CALIFORNIA FOR THE FIRST DAY SALE OF THE FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT TWO CENT STAMP WHEREAS, Postmaster General John A. Gronousky has announced that the two cent stamp of the new United States regular postage issue is to bear the portrait of architect Frank Lloyd Wright, and WHEREAS, the Civic Center Branch of the San Rafael Post Office, Marin County, California, is the only building ever designed by Frank Lloyd Wright for the Government of the United States, and WHEREAS, the Marin County Civic Center is the last major public building designed by Wright before his death, therefore, The City Council of the City of San Rafael hereby petitions the Postmaster General to designate the Civic Center Branch of the San Rafael Post Office for the first day sale of the Frank Lloyd Wright two cent stamp, when it is issued, which is to be one day prior to its general sale throughout the United States. I, W. CLIFFORD CORNWELL, Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of said City held on Monday the 7th day of June, 1965, by the following vote, to wit: AYES: Councilmen: Aby, Baar, Barbier, Jensen and Mayor Bettini NOES: Councilmen: None ABSENT: Councilmen: None ORIGINAL
