HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Resolution 3419RESOLUTION NO. 3WIl RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL URGING THAT U.S. HIGHWAY 101 BE INCLUDED K THE INTERSTATE SYSTEM OF FEDERAL HIGHWAYS AND FEDERAL FUNDS ALLOCATED TO SAN FRANCISCO BE DIVERTED TO ITS lii'r'RGVEMENT. WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael has heretofore declared that U.S. Highway 101, the Redwood Highway, is In fact a Federal Highway connecting California with the Pacific Northwest and should be Included in the Federal Highway System, and WHEREAS, Federal Funds have been allocated to the improvement of freeways within the City of San Francisco and have been unused because of the failure of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors to agree upon the location for such freeways, and WHEREAS, there is an urgent need for the improvement of U.S. Highway 10i. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of San Rafael that all State and Federal officials are urged to take such action as may be necessary to designate the Redwood Highway, U.S. Highway 101, a portion of the Federal Highway System and to reallocate funds heretofore designated for the improvement of freeways within the City of San Francisco to construction of improvements on the Redwood Highway so as to constitute said Redwood Highway a full freeway from San Francisco to the Oregon border.
