RESOLUTION AFFIRMING THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE
PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
IN CONNECTION WITH THE RENAMING OF PORTIONS OF
FRANCISCO BOULEVARD TO RITTER STREET AND TO
SECOND STREET RESPECTIVELY.
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of San Rafael, on the
11th day of March, 1969, recommended the renaming of a portion of Francisco
Boulevard between Third Street and Lincoln Avenue to Ritter Street and a portion
between Lincoln Avenue and the Northwestern Pacific Railroad property to Second
Street;
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of San Rafael determined
that the public necessity, convenience and general welfare required the change
of street names, in that the change of street names will eliminate confusion;
WHEREAS, the matter came on regularly for consideration by the City
Council of the City of San Rafael on the 7th day of April 1969;
WHEREAS, evidence, both oral and documentary, was produced and good
cause appearing therefor;
NOW THEREFORE, IT IS RESOLVED that a portion of Francisco Boulevard
between Third Street and Lincoln Avenue be renamed Ritter Street; and that
portion of Francisco Boulevard from Lincoln Avenue running easterly to its dead
end at Northwestern Pacific Railroad property be renamed Second Street. Said
street name changes shall be effective October 7, 1969.
I, W. CLIFFORD CORNWELL, Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby certify that
the foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a
regular meeting of the Council of the City of San Rafael held on the 7th day of
April, 1969, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Barbier, Jensen, Miskimen, Robbins, and Mayor Bettini.
NOES: Councilmen None
ABSENT: Councilmen None
