BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, and notice is further given, that there shall be, and there is hereby ordered submitted to the qualified electors of said city voting at said election, the following pro- posed amendments to the Uharter of the City of San Rafael, to-wit: �.PROPOS.NO. 1, CHARTER AMENDMENT Proposition to provide a four-year term fox the office of Mayor of said city by amending SECTION 2 -.of ARTICLE SIX of the Char- ter of the City of San Rafael tc read as follows: PRTICLE v I— Section 2 ' The mayor.- shall be elected at the general municipal electi-on to be, held in said City of. PROPOSAA0. 2, CHARTER AMENDMENT Prog,osition to make the office of Chief of Police of,=the City of San Rafael appointive by the City Council �y amending SECTIONS -1, 4 and 11, of `ARTICLE SIX of the Charter of the City of San Rafael, to read respectivel�,,and collectively as follows: RB -FIC LE VI -Section 1: Th$ elective officers of t)`e City of San Rafael shall be: a Mayor, fou;, councilmen, five. -members of the Board of Education, a City Clerk ..City Attorgey, a City Treasurer, a City Assessor, a City Tax and License C g1lector, and a Police Judge. Section 4: The City Clem 'City Attorney, City Treasurer, City Assessor, City Tax and License Collector, and Police Judge shall be elected at the general munidipal ele,&tion to be held in said City of San Rafael on the second Monday ink-'4pril, 1935, and on the second Monday in April of eacpi fourth year thereafter, and shall hold of- fice for a period of-` four years from and after the Monday next succeeding the day of such election, and until their successors are elected or,!%ppointed and qualified. The council skLall appoint a Chief of Police, a City Engineer, a Superintendent of Streets, a Health, Officer, who shall be,a duly licensed physician in accordance with`t4 laws of the Sta, a of California, a Chief of the Fire Department, who shall P be ei.x�officio Fire Marshal, and a pound master, each of whom shall hold office for a period of four years. The Council may consoltd.ate /Pth� offices of City Engineer and Superintendent of Streets. All such appointive officers may be removed at any time by a four-fifths vote of the council. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the ballots to be used at said election shall contain a statement of said respective propositions in the form hereinabove set forth. 2 - MARTINELLI & GARDINER ATTORNEYS AT LAW ALBERT BUILDING RAN RAFAEL, CALIFORNIA Each inspector, judge and clerk serving on the election board at said election shall be paid the sum odollars for serving thereon. Said special municipal election shall be held and conducted under and pursuant to the Charter of the City of San Rafael in all respects therein provided for special municipal elections, and in all other respects according to the laws of the State of California now in force regulating and providing for the conduct of municipal elections so far as they may be applicable, and in any respect not therein provided, then according to the general laws of the State of California now in force. At said special municipal election the polls shall be open at 6 o'clock A. M. on the day of said election, and shall be kept open until 7 o'clock P. M. of the same day, when the polls shall be closed, except as provided in SECTION 1164 of the Political Code of the State of California.
