RESOLUTION DETERMINING AND DECLARING RESUIII OF CANVASSING OF
ELECTION RETURNS.

. WHEREAS, in pursuance of lqw and the Charter of the
City of San Rafael, the City Council of the City of San Rafael did
by proclamation resolution order a general municipal election to
be held in said City on MONDAY., the eighth day of April, 1935, at
whixh election the offices to be filled and the candidates for such
offices as set forth in the certified list of the City Clerk as re -
quired by law were as follows, to -wit:

WHEREAS, on the 12th day of April, 1935s the Council
of said City duly and regularly convened -in regular adjourned meeting
pursuant to the. provisions of the Charter of said City; thebeupon
said Council met as a canvassing board and did duly canvass the
returns of said general municipal election and did declare the
result of said election and did and does declares that the candidates
thereat did receive the votes thereat as follows, to -wit:

Thereupon said Council sitting as a canvassing board did proceed to
canvass and count all absentee voter ballots issued and returned
anc accounted for and voted at said elections that said absentee
voter ballots were counted personally by said City Council sitting
as said canvassing board in the following manner, to -wit: Said
canvassing board did take up the return envelopes containing said
absentee voter ballots, each separately in the presence of each
Councilman and member of said canvassing board and in the presence
of the public who were present at said meeting; that said canvassing
board did personally compare the signature of the voter on each
re istration
of such envelopes with the signature on t eAaffidavit of such
voter and said canvassing board in the case of each absent voter
ballot and of each envelope were satisfied and did declare itself
satisfied that the signature on the voter's identification envelope
was the signature of each voter and did announce in an audible
voice the name of such voter in each case respectively and in
each case did respectively open such identification envelope
without defacing the affidavit printed thereon or mutilating
the enclosed ballot and without unfolding said ballot did
remove the number therefrom and did deposit said ballot in each
case respectively in the ballot box provided for that purpose;
after all of gaid ballots were deposited, said ballot box was
thorougbly„shaken by one of said canvassing board; that said
ballots were thereupon taken out, each separately, and said votes
were counted in the usual manner by said canvassing board and the
result of such count for each candidate voted for was tabulated
by said canvassing board under the heading "Absebtee Votes”
regardless of the precincts within which said absentee voters
are registered.
The total of the vote cast in each precinct for each of said
candidates was thereupon added by said canvassing board to the total
vote for each candidate under the heading "Absentee Votesrr.

Th6reupon the result of said absentee vote was declared and
said canvassing board did preserve in sealed irnvelopes provided
therefor and did return to the City Clerk of said City the
absentee ballots so counted together with the envelopes containing
the same and the tabulation record each in separate envelopes.
The result of said ballots was and is hereby declared as
follows, to -wit:

municipal election exclusive of absentee votes was 351f votes.
That the total number of votes cast at said election
including said absentee votes is the sum of 356f votes; that
the total number of vibtes including absentee votes cast at
said election for each of said respective gandidates'is as
