FI%IM CERTAIN DUTIES AND POWERS OF TI -M CITY ENGINEER
IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the City Engineer and Superintendent
of Streets of the City of San Rafael, be and he is hereby authorized
and directed to employ a regular and full time assistant 4nd to
discharge such assistant without notice and without consulting this
Council either at the time of the said employment or discharge, such
assistant to receive the sum of $150.00 monthly during his actual
employment. Nothing herein provided shall give to any assistant so
employed a vested right in his office or employment and the same shall
terminate upon the rescission of this resolution.
IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that said City Engineer and Superintendent
of Streets be and he is hereby authorized and directed to employ all
labor and other services in any way connected with and required by the
performance of the duties of his office, including the employment of
surveyors, chain -men, surveyors assistants, street cleaners, street
repairmen, operators of street cleaning equipment and street repairing
equipment of said City, and all other employments in any way incidental
to said employments. The wages of said laborers and other employees shall
be the prevailing wages for their respective employments as fixed by this
Council. Notwithstanding anything hereinabove set forth this Council
expressly reserves the power to determine the number persons who may be
employed for the foregoing purposes and the time of employment, it being
the intention of this resolution to empower said Engineer and Superintendent
of Streets eterm-ipe the identity and personnel of such employees.
