HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 663_ rY' RESOLUTION NO. 663 RESOLUTION RE AFFIRMING DESIGNATION OF HIGHWAY ROUTE AND PROTESTING PROPOSED NEW ROUTING 1EINTIT-Mm WHEREAS, on the fifth day of March, 1934, the City Council of the City of San Rafael did duly and regularly adopt its resolution No. 637, designating, adopting, confirming, and declaring the preference of said City Council as the governing body of said City for the proposed route of the State Highway through the City of San Rafael designated as "ROUTE E" therein and so designated on the proposed routes prepared and surveyed by the Division of Highways of the Department of Public Works of the State cf California; and WHEREAS, said California State Highway Commission, through its engineers and re=presentatives, recently has completed a survey of a proposed new and/or additional route for said State Highway through the said City lying easterly of "ROUTE E" and intersecting a portion of the lands of the Dominican College of the City of San Rafael and intersecting and cutting through the lands of the socalled Tamalpais School, which said latter route has been vigorously protested by divers and sundry residents and property owners within the territory adjacent to said proposed new route; and WHEREAS, it appears to said City Council that said "Route E^ as originally designated by said Council is the route most compatible with the public interest end good and resulting in the least private injury; and WHEREAS, it appears to said Council that said proposed new route is not compatible with the greatest public good and that it will not result in the least private injury; and WHEREAS, said Council is still of the opinion that said "Route E" is the best and mos t beneficial rout a and that it wi 11 resul t in the least possible injury, NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HERESY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of San Rafael that the foregoing designation of said "Route E" be and the same is hereby confirmed; HE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said City Council does hereby respectfully petition said California State Highway Commission with all haste possible to finally adopt said "Route E" and to commence the construction of said new highway alignment thereon; AND HE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the attorney for said City Council be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to attend the meetinE of the said California State nighway Commission to be held at Sacramento on June 7, 1935, or upon such date to which it may be postponed, and present in person a certified copy of this resolution to said Commission while in session, and at the same time urge, in behalf of said City Council, the adoption of said "Route E" in conformity with this resolution. hereby/ et t the oret/oin;) rr a?uiio,e zoa, r'rrltt and regithirl., b1b'!?•!'t a —`_�� Me:the, Council of said Cit,7h< % ore----- --. the-� --- truU (,,f- l;y the w?„lt:i,riQ vote., t -P, Ayes: Counci?sten �Q'�. ���• �.�'�� �� � �� Abaent: Counz;iirnen
