RESOLUTION GREA`_ING THE OFFICE OF "DIRECTOR OF
BOYS' PTELF'AREN, FIXING THL TERI, OP'
OFFICE, PRESCRIBIN, THE DUTIES OF
OFFICE Air?D FI aNG CO , PEITSATION.
IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of San Rafael that there is a present need in said City for tkz
creation of a new office and/or employment to be Down as the
"Directory of Boys' Welfare " for the purpose of planning, super-
vising and directing the recreational and play ground activities of the
male youth of said City and that pursuant to the provision of Section
12 of Article VI of the Charter of the City of San Rafael said
employment cught to be created.
IT IS THERJEFORE RESOLVED by said City Council
that a new employment, tc--wit, the office of "DIREOCTOR OF BOYS'
INELFARE" be and the same is hereby created for the City of San
Raf ae 1.
Said City Council does hereby further resolve
and determine as follows:
1- That the existence of said employment
shall continue until said office and/or employment shall be dis-
continued or abolished by the. further resolution of said Council.
2- That the term of any appointee to said

subject, however, to the power of said City Council
to remove such ap;_-,ointee or employee at any time by al3io-Eityvote of said
Council. Said employee or officer shall be appointed by resolution
of said City Council.

5- The duties of said employment shall
(a) Forthwith upon his or her appointment
to make a personal survey and investigation of the public places where
the mule youth of said City have been or are accustomed to frequent
together with the natL,re and extent of the recreational habits;
games, pastimes and endeavors engaged in by said youth.
(b) To confer with and receive the sugg-
estions of parent organizations, mothers' organizations, and associations,
educational institutions, principals and teachers in the public
schools, with a view to prescribing,organizing and directing appropriate,
healthful and beneficial recreational and/or play ground activities
for said youth.
(c) To so organize and direct said re-
creational and play ground endeavors as to render the same susceptible
of continuous supervision and direction by said Director.
(d) To make monthly reports to said Cit y
Council concerning the existing condition of recreational and play-
ground habits, endeavors and programs engaged in by the youth of
said City and/or directed by said Director.
(e) to enlist the cooperation, attention
and 7:l6alpfulness of the parents and/or legal guardians of the youth
of said City toward the betterment and mai-ntenance of proper re-
creational and play ground facilities and endeavors of said youth.
( f ) To perform such other and further
duties as may from time to time be imposed upon said Director by
ordinance or resolution of this City gouncil.
