City Manager's Report Nancy Mackle Invited Council and the community to Spirit of San Rafael event, - a San Francisco Giants game on Thursday, September 25, 2014 to raise money for Camp Chance: Announced the next Quiet Zone meeting takes place on Thursday, September 18 from 7-9pm in the San Rafael Council Chambers; Today (Monday, September 15, 2014) is the first day of the Single -Use Bag Reduction ordinance - which applies to retailers and special events such as Farmers' Market, etc. Climate Corps fellows will be preset at stores and Farmers' Market to give information on "bringing your own bag" to stores and events. The California Legislature passed state-wide bag reduction legislation; however, it should not impact San Rafael's ordinance or the ability to broaden it later next year. COUNCILMEMBER REPORTS / REQUESTS FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS: (including AB 1234 Reports on Meetings and Conferences Attended at City Expense) 7. Councilmember Reports M Councilmember Connolly reported that he attended the League of California Cities meeting on behalf of the City, and was a panelist for the Beacon Award; San Rafael was the recipient of the first award for Sustainability. Councilmember Colin reported that she presented at the Marin Communication Forum about how to reach out to the Spanish speaking population (GREAT survey); Attended the CMSA meeting last week on behalf of Councilmember Bushey, and attended CDBG on behalf of Councilmember McCullough; She attended Marin Transit meeting this morning. Mayor Phillips reported that he noticed Walgreens was selling bags for San Rafael's first day of the single -use bag ordinance; He is having a meeting with the General Manager and President of SMART board to discuss some issues; Wednesday, September 17, 2014 - Press Conference at 10am at Colonial Liquors to announce the cessation of the sale of various liquors; City Council team was victorious at the Bocce Tournament held for the employees of the City of San Rafael on Wednesday, September 10, 2014.
