THE UNIFORT;I ELECTRICAL CODE OF THE CITY OF SAI RAFAEL

11.1ERGENCY SUPPLIMIENT .
The City Council of the City of San Rafael, California,
do ordain as follows:
SECTION 1: Ordinance number 4-0-6 of the C-ity of San Rafael
which adopts the Uniform Electrical Code (1941 edition) by refer-
ence, is hereby amended to change certain provisions of the Uniform
electrical Code as follows:
Section 9 - subsection A. Delete the words "wood frame"
from the first and second :lines; and the word "only" from the next
to last line.
Section 11 - subsection D. Delete this entire paragraph
and require installation in accordance with Section 16.
Section 11 - subsection F. Delete the word 'armored"
from the second line.
Section 17 - subsection 1, first paragraph. Delete the
word "separate" from the first line, and add the following clause to
the end of the same sentence: "except combination receptacle and
snitch in a single outlet box or combination receptacle and bracket
light in a single outlet box, either of jr-ihich combination may be
supplied from a lighting circuit." Add "or Type S fuses" at end
of first paragraph.
Section 17 - subsection 1, fourth paragraph. Delete the
last sentence reading "such lighting outlet and switch shall be rated
as one outlet."
=-6: "The -number of outlets installed for fixtures, snap switches
and convenience receptacles for each dwelling unit shall be not less
than the sure total calculated -as follows:
a. Bathroom - two outlets.
b. Kitchen - four outlets.
c. Dining room or dining space - three outlets.
d. Living room - four outlets.
e. Each other habitable room - four outlets.
f. Each private hall - two outlets.
g. Each private foyer - two outlets.
h. Each exterior entrance - one outlet.
i. Utility room - three outlets.
j. Basement (1) in dwellings which do not contain a
utility room - five outlets; (2) in dwellings which
contain a utility room in addition to a basement -
three outlets.
k. Garage - one car, two outlets; two car, three
outlets. :61111L1-family, two outlets for each
enclosed car stall.
At least one of these outlets shall be installed on a re-
ceptacle circuit in each of time following rooms: kitchen, dining
room, living room, other habitable rooms, utility room and basement.'
SECTION 2: This ordinance shall cease to be in effect at the
termination of the present war, unless repealed at an earlier date
by the City Council of San Rafael. At such time Ordinance number
C30L shall read as if this Crdinance had never been passed.
SECTIO1 3: This ordinance is intended as an emergency ordinance
and shall be in full force and effect upon its final adoption. Said
emergency is hereby declared to consist in the following facts to -
wit: a state of ir,iar exists between the United States of America and
other nations with the result that regulations have been and will be
continuously imposed by the Government of the United States upon the
use of certain critical materials provided for in the Uniform Elec-
trical Code of said City and certain revisions in the P?ational Elec-
trical Code have been and i,,ill be continuously made. That concur-
rently herewith said City Council has adopted Charter Ordinance
!�To.3010_ providing for a Uniform Electrical Code for said City as
an emergency ordinance and in order to comply with said regulations

effect without delay.
aLCTIOiT 4: This ordinance shall be published once before
its final passage in the ILIVILarin Journal, a weekly newspaper, of
general circulation, printed, published and circulated in said
City and shall be in full force and effect from and after its
final passage.
