Proclamation Presented to
Jaimi Cortes
WHEREAS, Jaimi Cortes was appointed to the Board of Library Trustees for the City of San
Rafael on May 1, 2017, and has served with dedication and distinction for over
eight years; and
WHEREAS, Jaimi served under the City Council and provided thoughtful advice and
counsel to three Library Directors during her tenure: Director Houghton,
Director Andrade-Wax, and Director Quffa; she also served with distinction as
Chair of the Board of Library Trustees in 2021; and
WHEREAS, Jaimi fostered meaningful connections between community members and
library staff, strengthening relationships and collaboration across the
organization; and
WHEREAS, Jaimi offered the perspective of a parent with young children, championing
enhanced resources and support for families in the San Rafael community; and
WHEREAS, Jaimi provided valuable guidance and insight for the development of the new
Northgate Library at Northgate Mall and expanding library services to the
North San Rafael community; and
WHEREAS, Jaimi contributed leadership and perspective to the Library Facilities Planning
process, ensuring the library’s long-term vision reflected the community’s
diverse needs; and
WHEREAS, Jaimi supported the continuation of library services to the public throughout
the COVID-19 pandemic, helping ensure equitable access during
unprecedented times; and
WHEREAS, Jaimi provided input and advocacy during the Downtown Library Renovation
project and played an active role in planning for the Pickleweed Library
Renovation; and
WHEREAS, Jaimi provided thoughtful feedback throughout the Library’s policy review
process, contributing to policies that ensure transparency, inclusion, and access
for all.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, KATE COLIN, Mayor of San Rafael, do hereby express my heartfelt
appreciation to
Jaimi Cortes
for serving as a Board of Library Trustee Member and for her important contributions and community
service to the City of San Rafael.
