RECOMMENDATION: Adopt resolution. BACKGROUND: The Street Resurfacing 2007/2008 project targets 18 streets throughout the City of San Rafael for repaving. The list of streets to be resurfaced this year is attached to this report and totals approximately 4.83 miles. Bids for Street Resurfacing 2007/2008 were opened on July 22, 2008. ANALYSIS: The City had all of its streets evaluated in October and a five year maintenance list was established using the Street Saver Program approved by MTC. The streets have a Pavement Condition Index (PCI) from 9 to 65. Staff has also considered the feasibility of implementing locally defined bicycle and pedestrian improvements as part of the project. Where possible, roadway striping will be revised to accommodate bicycle paths. Curb ramps will be constructed on each corner. Fifty-six curb ramps will be installed or upgraded. They represent 10% of the total project cost. As a standard practice, engineering staff considers this multi -modal approach on all projects. In accordance with strategy 3.2 of the TAM Measure A Strategic Plan, the City Council is required to approve projects that are funded with Local Measure A funds at a public meeting. The following is a list of the Engineer's Estimate and the bids received: FOR CITY CLERK ONLY File No.: If-1-603y/i (/-/S Council Meeting: 7 Lf/Og Disposition: Pf504-07(019/ 4-' 1254 ; SAN RAFAEL CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT / Page: 2 Engineer's Estimate $1,867,236.25 1.
