After much analyis acid discussion of elle rived for State peositn reform, the end of the
legislative session represents our be-st chance to take action.
As a1 mernber of the .Joint Legislative Committee on i'ensions, 1 have worked diligently Since the
inti-OdUc:tiOrl of the Governor's twelve -point proposal to examine our current public pensions
systems. We have reviewF'd the offi(.,:1Cy or rec Brit reforrirll,, the beriefits and problen')s
associated with each indopende.nt. systern, ,Ind options going forward to help brinf; stability 1:0
the systems in a way that is fair to troth the resIld(mv; of California and tho public. employees
that serve them.
They Governor's plan will be recognizable in flee legislature's proposal and will include the

As the legislature begins to weigh in on this complex issue, l want to ensure that the voices of
our Inrii ri#ins are clearly heard thr'ouFhout the hulls of the Mate Capitol.
For that reason, 1 ani requesting that the City of San Rafael aclopt a resolution reaffirming, your
F,upport of statewide pon ion reform efforts, and to lend your voices to my own in order to urge
the ll='€;isk)turo to arrive nt an a greerne?nt on this critical Nsue bc4fore ihte end of thr`i legislative
session.
Left kinchockl`d, the rising public pension costs will threaten every level of California
Fovernrrlent's fiscal solvericy and ,ever(dy weaki.,n oUr ecor)or7tic standing in the world, Tough
decisions are required to reverse this tread and stabilize California's financial Footing. State
