A Quiet Zone is a defined stretch of track where a train operator is not required to blow the train horn, as it approaches vehicular or pedestrian crossings unless there is a hazard on the tracks. QUIET ZONE Trains will still sound horns ■ When leaving a station, or otherwise accelerating from a stopped position ■ Emergency situations, such as when a car or pedestrian is on the tracks. ■ When work crews and equipment are on the track.
