RESOWTION OF 11PPRECUITION
TO
2014-2015 SAN RAFAEL HIGH SCHOOL MOCK TRIAL TEAM
WHEREAS, the Marin County Office of Education sponsored the annual Marin County High School
Mock Trial Competition on January 31 and February 7, 2015; and
WHEREAS, the Mock Trial Competition enables high school students to acquire a working knowledge of
the judicial system, develop analytical abilities and communication skills, and gain an understanding of
their obligations and responsibilities as participating members in society; and
WHEREAS, the 2014-2015 Bulldog team members prepared many months for their roles on their Mock
Trial Team as attorneys, witnesses, and courtroom personnel; and
WHEREAS, the team's preparation included thoroughly learning the facts and rules of the competition,
analyzing and arguing cases for pre-trial argument, developing direct and cross examinations and witness
testimony for multiple witnesses, and preparing for opening statements and closing arguments; and
WHEREAS, the Bulldogs experienced an extraordinary run through the competition, defeating Branson,
Redwood, and Tensa Linda and narrowly missing an upset of Tamalpais High, earning second place; and
WHEREAS, the Bulldog team earned the deep respect of Tam High, as well as the admiration and
appreciation of the students, teachers, administrators, parents, and friends who comprise the San Rafael
High School community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Council of the City of San Rafael do
hereby commend Lana Apple, John Diaz, Adina Epstein, Zoe Epstein, Sarah Goldberg, Berna Idriz,
Alejandra Jimenez, Molly Laviano, Edmund T. Leibert III, Jesus Parra, Ethan Pletcher, Braulio Resendiz,
David Rucker, Sebastian Vaziri, Adam Vogel, and Arielle Zoken for their amazing performance in the
2015 Marin County Mock Trial Competition. These students have brought pride and honor to the City of
San Rafael and their achievement will long be remembered and treasured by our community.
