RESOLUTION OF 11PPRECIATION
TO
NANCY MACKLE
WHEREAS, Nancy Mackie began her 18 -year career with the City of San Rafael in 1997 as a
Senior Development Specialist. She was promoted to Economic Development Director in 1999
and Deputy City Manager in 2007. In 2011, Nancy achieved her ultimate professional goal with
her appointment as City Manager.
WHEREAS, Nancy has been indispensable in the
collaborative initiatives that have shaped San Rafael's
among them the Downtown Vision, General Plan 2020,
Plan, and the Homeless Action Plan; and
development and implementation of
recent past and will influence its future,
Measure E, the Climate Change Action
WHEREAS, Here are just a few of the projects that bear her creative, pragmatic imprint: San
Rafael Corporate Center, Target, Extended Stay Hotel, Rafael Town Center, Parkside Day Care,
Albert J. Boro Community Center, 3`d & C St. Parking Garage, San Rafael Plaza, various
affordable housing initiatives, a few automobile dealerships and (coming soon) SMART; and
WHEREAS, All these achievements are laudable but few people are aware that Nancy, known for
her serenity and inventive use of the salty end of the linguistic spectrum, has conquered crippling
shyness to rise to the pinnacle of Marin's municipal hierarchy; and
WHEREAS, Nancy has always expressed her sincere appreciation and support of the entire
spectrum of work performed by City staff in service to the San Rafael community; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Nancy, her preferred form of address, has been a highly effective ambassador
to San Rafael's diverse, sometimes demanding and always engaged citizens; she has the rare
ability to "work well with others", even a multiplicity of Mansourians; and
WHEREAS, Nancy has served our community with grace for almost two decades. San Rafael
and its citizens have benefitted greatly from her humanity and her pragmatism, in ways that mere
words on a page, however heartfelt, cannot capture. We will miss her terribly.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of San Rafael does
hereby express its sincere gratitude to Nancy Mackie for 18 years of the highest level of public
service and wishes her a healthy, happy and long retirement.
