RESOLUTION NO. 13262 CITY OF SAN RAFAEL PRESENTS THIS 1:4;W1111W1W "IiWi m WHEREAS, Armando Quintero was first appointed to the San Rafael Park and Recreation Commission in 1999. Armando distinguished himself as a consensus builder and a master at compromise, as evident in the Loch Lomond Recreation Improvement Plan, open space encroachment hearings, Albert Park baseball debate, and noise, use, parking and other neighborhood conflicts; and WHEREAS, Armando helped to forge Agreements between the City and Marin Bocce Federation, Marin Master Gardeners, Trust for Public Land, City of Novato (Hamilton Pool), Marin History Museum and Canal Alliance, always promoting public/private partnerships for the benefit of San Rafael citizens; and WHEREAS, Armando contributed professional expertise to design and installation of segments of Starkweather Shoreline Park, Pickleweed Fields, the Bocce Complex; Los Ranchitos Park, Parkside Children's Center, Canal Community Garden, Pickleweed Community Center Expansion, Terra Linda Community Pool, McInnis Skatepark, the Bret Harte, Gerstle, Sun Valley, and Santa Margarita Parks Renovation Projects; Victor Jones Park Masterplan; and Freitas Park Phase II; and WHEREAS, Armando devoted full attention and many hours to the Falkirk Cultural Center Plan, the Public Outdoor Art Program, the Arts Vision Plan, General Plan 2020, and regular and repeated budget reduction discussions; and WHEREAS, Armando brought the full perspective of his experiences as a National Parks Ranger and Manager, a musician, artist and photographer, an environmental champion, a trek guide and mountain biker, a community and school volunteer, a MMWD Board Member, the Development Director for UC Merced, and as a dad, to the Commission, and a quiet passion, personal compassion, humor, creativity, and an occasional home brewed beer, Armando served as an inspiration for improving and preserving our City as well as living harmoniously in the community. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Council of the City of San Rafael hereby extend their sincere appreciation to Armando Quintero, Park and Recreation Commissioner, for twelve years of valued service to the City of San Rafael.
