HomeMy WebLinkAboutPW Employment Agreement; Computer Mapping Technician 1996EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT FOR COMPUTER MAPPING TECHNICIAN This agreement made and entered into this 151 day of July, 1996, by and between the CITY OF SAN RAFAEL, hereinafter referred to as "City" and CHRISTOPHER A RIPPS, hereinafter referred to as "Computer Mapping Technician". WITNESSETH: WHEREAS, the City currently has funds available for the design and development of mapping, and Geographic Information System. WHEREAS, the City has determined that it is in the public interest to insure the above mentioned are developed in a timely and professional manner; and WHEREAS, the City has determined that it is necessary to temporarily employ the services of an additional staff technician dedicated exclusively to Mapping and G.I.S. work. NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the mutual covenants and agreements contained herein, the parties hereby agree as follows: 1. The City hereby employs Computer Mapping Technician to serve as a contract employee for the contract term running from July 1, 1996 through December 31, 1996, providing that this agreement may be terminated before the end of such term as provided in Paragraph 12 hereof. 2. The City and Computer Mapping Technician may extend the contract term of this Agreement only by written agreement of the parties. 3. Computer Mapping Technician will work regular City Hall hours (37-1/2 hours) 8:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., five days a week. Overtime will be only with prior authorization by the Director of Public Works, and paid at the rate of time and one-half pay in accordance with adopted City policy. 4. Computer Mapping Technician agrees to provide technical services necessary to assist in the preparation of plans, maps, facility mapping, facility records database compilation, and field verification necessary in the development of the City's computerized mapping and G.I.S., and other miscellaneous work as directed by the Director of Public Works, or his representative. Work content involved includes the application of computer related programs including Autocad, A.D.E., Excel and other software as required. 5. Salary shall be set at $1,810.00 per month. The salary will be increased in accordance with the 1996/1997 MOU for miscellaneous employees. 6. Computer Mapping Technician shall be eligible for enrollment in the City's Health & Welfare benefits. The City will contribute a maximum of $410 per month towards the employee's enrollment in these Group Plans. The difference between the allotted amount and the cost of the employee's City -offered Health and Welfare Plans will be paid back to the employee up to a maximum payback of $50/month. 7. The City will provide the same dental insurance program which is offered to regular full time employees. The dental insurance program will not come into effect until the first of the month following 90 days of employment. 8. Computer Mapping Technician will accrue vacation, sick leave, holiday pay, and floating holiday pay at the rate prescribed for regular full time employees, based on employment time as a contract employee only. 9. Computer Mapping Technician shall be enrolled in the Public Agency Retirement System (PARS). Employee contribution is currently 3.75%. This rate is subject to change as the program requires. 10. Any notice required to be given by the terms of this Agreement shall be deemed to have been given upon the date of personal delivery or deposit in the United States Mail, postage prepaid, at the following addresses: City of San Rafael / Dept. of Public Works Christopher A. Computer Mapping Technician will not be subject to existing personnel policies and procedures for regular or part time employees. 12. This Agreement may be terminated for any reason by either party at any time upon thirty (30) days written notice to all parties to this agreement. 13. This agreement constitutes the sole and entire Agreement between the parties, which shall not be modified or amended except by a written document executed by both parties. 14. The parties agree to submit any claims or disputes arising out of this agreement to binding arbitration pursuant to the current provisions of the California Code of Civil Procedure and any successor statutes. 15. Contract employee shall be entitled to Worker's Compensation Insurance coverage in accordance with the provisions of the Worker's Compensation Insurance and Safety Act.
