the foregoing Charter Ordinance No. 1471 entitled:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN .RAFAEL PROVIDING FOR COST OF LIVING
INCREASE FOR CITY COUNCIL
is a true and correct copy of an ordinance of said City and was
introduced at a regular meeting of the City Council
of the City of San Rafael, held on the fifth day of
December , 1983, published as required by City Charter in the
Independent -Journal a newspaper published in the City
of San Rafael and passed and adopted as an ordinance of said City at
a regular meeting of the City Council of said City
held on the third day of January 1984, by the following
vote, to wit:

ORDINANCE NO. 1471
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL PROVIDING
FOR COST OF LIVING INCREASE FOR CITY COUNCIL
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
DIVISION 1. Section 36516.2 of the California Government
Code, enacted in 1972, provides that the compensation of Council -
members and Mayor may be increased beyond the amount provided in
Section 36516 of the Government Code by an Ordinance on an amount
not greater than 5% for each calendar year from the operative date
of the last adjustment of the salary in effect when the Ordinance or
amendment thereto is enacted. The previous salary adjustment was
effective September 1982 for the Mayor and for each Councilmember
as provided for in Ordinance 1440.
DIVISION 2. As of November 16, 1983, the Mayor shall
receive $550 per month and each Councilmember shall receive $368 per
month. Said (3%) increases shall be paid in the same manner as paid
to other officers and employees of the City of San Rafael.
DIVISION 3. This Ordinance shall be published once in full
before its final passage in a newspaper of general circulation,
published and circulated in the City of San Rafael, and shall be in
full force and effect thirty (30) days after its final passage.

The foregoing Ordinance No. 1471 was read and intro-
duced at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
San Rafael, held on the 5th day of December , 1983, and
ordered passed to print by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS:Breiner, Frugoli, Nave, Russom & Mayor Mulryan
NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS:None
ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS:None
and will come up for adoption as an Ordinance of the City of San
Rafael at a regular meeting of the Council to be held on the
