BE: INTERVIEWS OF APPLICANTS FOR CITY ATTORNEY POSITION - File 9-3-16
At a special meeting held on October 9, 1984, the City Council
adopted Resolution No. 6938 declaring the Office of City Attorney of
San Rafael vacant effective September 29, 1984, due to the tragic
accident involving Peter J. Muzio on the slopes of Mt. Shasta on or
about September 29, 1984. At that time, the City Council also agreed
to fill the vacancy by appointment rather than calling a special
election, and authorized staff to call for applications to fill
the position of City Attorney, until the next General Municipal
Election to be held on November 5, 1985.
City Council interviewed four applicants as follows:
Bram Bevis
William Lynch, Jr.
Gary T. Ragghianti
John E. Mahoney
During discussion, Council considered both Gary T. Ragghianti
and William Lynch, Jr. for the position, indicating that both
attorneys were well-qualified to serve as City Attorney.
Councilmember Frugoli moved and Councilmember Nave seconded, to
appoint Gary T. Ragghianti to fill the position of City Attorney.
