RESOLUTION NO. 10481
CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
PRESENTS THIS
RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION
TO
WALTER P. KOSTA
WHEREAS, Walter P. Kosta was appointed Police Cadet on August 1st,
1968, and rose to the rank of Captain while serving the citizens of San Rafael with
dedication, integrity and uncommon compassion for over thirty years; and
WHEREAS, Walter P. Kosta gave unselfishly of himself throughout his
career, sharing his knowledge and experience with fellow officers and lending support
to innumerable causes including Youth in Law classes, self defense for women, service
on the San Rafael Police Association Board, and most recently, President of the Marin
Peace Officer's Association; and
WHEREAS, Walter P. Kosta demonstrated exceptional investigative skill
in a number of significant criminal cases, establishing himself as a respected
professional and enhancing the reputation of the police department; and
WHEREAS, Walter P. Kosta gained further fame as Commander of the
Marin County Major Crimes Task Force, receiving special recognition from the
Attorney General for outstanding work in the war on drugs; and
WHEREAS, on June 30, 1999, Walter P. Kosta retired to enjoy the fruits
of his more than thirty years of public service.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and the City Council of the
City of San Rafael hereby express sincere appreciation and gratitude to Walter P. Kosta
for his thirty-one years of outstanding service performed from August 1, 1968 to June
30, 1999.
