CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
PRESENTS THIS
RESOLUTION OF HPPIRECIflT10N
TO
CESAR ESTRADA CHAVEZ
WHEREAS, Cesar Estrada Chavez dedicated his life to the
rights of farm workers; and
WHEREAS, Cesar Chavez used the principles of nonviolence
as advocated by Jesus Christ, Mahatma Ghandi and
Dr. Martin Luther King; and
WHEREAS, his perseverance and leadership spanned a period
of over thirty years in the field; and
WHEREAS, Cesar Chavez was dedicated to the empowerment of
the powerless and the safety of the vulnerable;
and
WHEREAS, although he lived a simple life, he walked and
talked with royalty and exalted officials; and
WHEREAS, Cesar Estrada Chavez left a legacy of peace, freedom
and justice as an example for all to follow.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of San Rafael, on behalf of all its residents,
hereby pays tribute to Cesar Estrada Chavez, one
of the heroic figures of our time.
