HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Resolution 8236 (Peacock Gap Park Construction)RESOLUTION NO. 8236 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL AUTHORIZING ADDITIONAL FUNDS FOR CON- STRUCTION OF PEACOCK GAP PARK AND FOR EXTENSION TO THE MAINTENANCE CONTRACT WITH BAUMAN LANDSCAPE, INC. WHEREAS, at the start of construction of Peacock Gap Park, it was apparent that allowable funding for the project was limited with only a minimal amount available for contingencies; and WHEREAS, two large change orders had to be issued on unanticipated items of work dealing with public safety; and WHEREAS, the cost of these two change orders alone exceeded $26,000; and WHEREAS, said cost could not be accommodated within the contingency amount, thereby creating a cost overrun of approximately $15,000; and WHEREAS, the project work included an initial three month maintenance period for the park and bathrooms; and WHEREAS, said maintenance period expired on August 31, 1990; and WHEREAS, City's Park Division is presently short two positions and unable to provide additional park maintenance at this time; and WHEREAS, Bauman Landscape, Inc. has offered to extend their landscape maintenance contract for an additional three months for $9,000 in order to continue providing necessary park maintenance. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of San Rafael that the following are hereby authorized: 1. ADDITIONAL EXPENDITURE FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF PEACOCK GAP PARK IN THE AMOUNT OF $15,000 FROM THE PARKS FUND BEDROOM TAX ACCOUNT. 2. EXTENSION OF THE MAINTENANCE CONTRACT WITH BAUMAN LANDSCAPE, INC. FOR AN ADDITIONAL THREE MONTHS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $9,000.00, FROM THE PARKS DIVISION SALARY ACCOUNT. RESOLUTION NO. 8236 I, JEANNE. M.
