HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Resolution 6096 (Vernon Nicholson Marin County Citizen of the Year)RESOLUTION NO. 6096 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SIGNING OF A CONTRACT, LEASE OR AGREEMENT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL RESOLVES as follows: The MAYOR and CITY CLERK are authorized to execute, on behalf of the City of San Rafael, a contract, lease or agreement with Marin Senior Coordinating Council nominating Vernon Nicholson as San Rafael's Candidate for Marin County Senior Citizen of the Year a copy of which is hereby attached and by this reference made a part hereof. I, JEANNE M. In 1968 he was appoint y the un y and of Supervisors, to the Terra Linda Community Service District Board of Directors. ring his seven years with the District he was a very active Board Member. Vern was also very supporting of having Terra Linda District Annex to the City of San Rafael. He was very instrumental in seeing that annexation was voted i_ n by his neighborhood constituents. Once the District annexed to the City of San Rafael "Nick" was appointed to the Parks and Recreation Commission He has been on the Commission for the past seven years, serving as Chairmanfor two years. List other awards received in recent years None Please submit any other supporting material or statements (letters of recommendation, etc.) which you feel ;could be helpful to the judges in making their decision. - - 1WK W71 M Reason for Nominating Candidate (cont'd): During his seven years "Nick" has played a vital role in providing valuable input and support in developing major City capital improvement projects. Three of the most significant ones in which he was very involved were: 1) Remolding of Terra Linda Recreation Center; 2) Development of Pickleweed Park and 3) Development of Davidson School Playsite. "Nick" not only has dedicated many hours to his community but he has also been a "model" senior adult. He has been married to his lovely wife "011ie" for 53 years. He is one of those rare people who is just as active and full of life at 77 years of age as he was when he was 27 years. He is a very active square dancer and golfer. If that isn't enough he also exercises three to four times a week at a health spa. In hi: spare time he also enjoys travelling. He is also a person who is always there to help his neighbor or community when needed. Nominee must have been a !-;Drin County resident for at least 5 years. 3. Nominations can only he accepted from organizations, clubs, agencies or municipalities. * NO nominations can be accepted from individuals. 4. Nominations may be for any kind of contribution made by your candidate to your group. 5. Nomination forms must be received at the Marin Senior Coordination Council office, Whistleston, 930 Ta.Talpais Avenue, San Rafael, CA 94901 NO LATER THAN APRIL, 30th. — 6.
