BACKGROUND: This will be the 23rd year for this very popular annual event, which every year draws thousands of people to our Downtown and is a potential fundraiser for the Business Improvement District. This year's event will feature a revised Micro -Brew Beer and Wine tasting. The Micro-Brew/Wine tasting and sales provides a unique flair as well as a significant source of income in support of this annual event. As always there will be great music provided by local musicians, tasty food booths to entice the attendees and the immensely popular Show & Shine of Classic Rods and cars throughout the day before the Car Parade. FOR CITY CLERK ONLY File No.: City Council Meeting: Disposition: Page 2 There have been two significant changes in the planning and operation of this year's event; one of which is collaboration with Marin's other showcase classic auto event, the Concors d' Elegance which adds a deep outreach into the elite car community and the addition of a newly formed committee of San Rafael/Marin car enthusiasts providing resources that have not been available in past years. Also a more centralized start/finish for the parade is now at A Street and the event times have been streamlined to encourage event goers to enjoy the Downtown merchants for their post -event activities. This year's modifications significantly improve the quality of this popular Downtown event as well as providing a good source of fundraising for the Business Improvement District. FISCAL IMPACT: Police and Public Works overtime costs estimated at $6,000.00, which is included in the Agency's annual event budget. OPTIONS: 1. Approve resolution 2.
