HomeMy WebLinkAboutBicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee 2019-06-05 MinutesSan Rafael Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee Meeting Notes – June 5, 2019 Attendees: Phil Mooney (BPAC), DJ Allison (BPAC), Barry Bergman (BPAC), Jim Geraghty (BPAC), Kevin Hagerty (BPAC), Lauren Davini (City) 1) Call to Order 2) Introductions a) New committee members and City staff were introduced 3) Public Comments for Items Not on the Agenda a) Jean Severinghaus – kudos to City staff for their work on the 3rd Street Rehabilitation Project b) Steve Lamb – Noted that City of San Anselmo staff are visiting the Netherlands to see how they implement complete streets. Rafat Raie from san Rafael attending as well 4) Interview of Youth Member applicant (Tyler Neilsen) – BPAC members asked the applicant four questions about serving on the committee. Committee members voted 5-0 in favor of appointing Tyler to serve as one of the committee’s two youth members. 5) Bicycle and Pedestrian Project Status Update a) Andersen Drive SMART Crossing b) Rice to Andersen Multi-use path project c) Rice-2nd Multi-use path project d) 3rd Street Rehabilitation e) 3rd and Hetherton f) Uncontrolled crosswalks study g) Francisco Blvd East construction h) Lincoln Avenue curb ramps i) Grand Avenue Bridge 6) Discussion of BPMP Projects a) City noted that the CIP includes some bike/ped discretionary budget for studies or other small projects. Most projects are not directly funded. City is pursuing Caltrans grants to help fund work. 7) Recommendations on the San Rafael Transit Center Project – Postponed 8) Future Agenda Items a) City suggested that BPAC could help review the CIP when next prepared b) Request for the working Precise Plan to be presented c) Update on public and private bike parking requirements in the Parking and Wayfinding Study
