SARAH HOUGHTON, INTERIM CHAIR, PRESIDING MEMBERS PRESENT: JOSH LIBRESCO MELANIE LEAVITT CANTARUTTI JAIMI CORTES DOUG VAN GESSEL MEMBERS MISSING: CAROL MANASHIL, CHAIR OTHERS PRESENT: SARAH HOUGHTON, LIBRARY DIRECTOR HENRY BANKHEAD, ASSISTANT DIRECTOR SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT Board Chair Carol Manashil submitted her resignation this morning, effective immediately. Board members agreed to have Houghton chair this meeting, and to express any interest they have in being chair to Houghton before the next meeting so a new chair can be decided upon. The Board is grateful to Manashil for her years of service and will greatly miss her presence and contributions. APPROVAL OF AGENDA The agenda was unanimously approved on a motion by Libresco and a second by Van Gessel. APPROVAL OF MINUTES November minutes were approved unanimously on a motion by Libresco and a second by Cortes. PUBLIC COMMENT Brad Sears commented about his concerns about the preservation of the Carnegie building of the Downtown Library and the trees on the library’s lawn. STAFF PRESENTATION None CORRESPONDENCE None REPORT FROM LIBRARY DIRECTOR Personnel Updates The Library is fully staffed in all divisions with one new hire in Downtown Adult Services and two new hires in Downtown Circulation. City Council Actions The Council will hear the final of seven reports from the Measure C Special Library Parcel Tax Committee at their December 18th meeting. Holiday Library Closures Both Libraries will be closed 12/24-12/25 and 12/31-1/1 for the holidays. City Employee Health Fair In November, the Library participated in the annual City Employee Health Fair with information on our health resources, a virtual reality simulation of the workings of the human body, and one of our 3D printers. Supervision of Library Pages Supervision of our Library Pages at the Downtown Library has been transferred to the Technical Services Supervisor which should improve team cohesiveness. REPORTS FROM LIBRARY SUPPORT GROUPS AND OTHER RELATED GROUPS Friends of the Library: The Friends are not meeting in December but are having an open house Thursday, December 14th from 5-7pm at Friends Books. SRPL Foundation: The Foundation did not meet in December. Special Library Parcel Tax Committee: The Committee met in late November and finalized the Committee’s annual report to City Council, which will be presented at the December 18th City Council meeting. OLD BUSINESS Update on contract with Noll & Tam The contract is under review by Noll & Tam’s lawyers. NEW BUSINESS Review draft 3D Printing Policy The Board suggested several additions to the policy to make the language more clear and friendly which will be incorporated into the adopted policy.
