FIRE COMMISSION MEETING
Minutes of the Regular Meeting
December 11, 2019

The meeting was called to order at 4 p.m. by Chair Mizroch.
Present: Chair Stephen Mizroch, Vice Chair Larry Luckham, Thomas Weathers, Elias Hill, and
Alternates David Fonkalsrud and Stan Burford.
Staff: Acting Fire Chief Bob Sinnott. Public Attendance: None.
1. Open Time for Public Expression. None.
2. Approval of Minutes: M/S Luckham/Burford to approve the minutes from the November 13,
2019 Fire Commission meeting. All Ayes.
3. Fire Foundation Report. Chair Mizroch provided an update on the Foundation including:
• There is $29,900 on hand.
• The Foundation received a $500 donation from the Lucas Family Foundation.
• Discussed upcoming projects and activities.
4. Historic Subcommittee. Commissioner Elias noted that he has been selected to participate
on the Art Focus Group which includes historical artifacts for the lobby of the PSC.
5. Marin Wildfire Prevention Authority JPA Report. The Marin Board of Supervisors have
unanimously approved to place the tax to fund the JPA on the March 2020 ballot. The
commissioners discussed various ideas on how to support the tax measure.
6. Commissioner Reports. The Commissioners shared various general information updates
pertinent to the San Rafael Fire Department and the fire service industry. Commissioner
Fonkalsrud reaffirmed his offer to assist the Department with public messaging/community
outreach.
7. Fire Chief’s Report. Acting Chief Sinnott summarized Department activities since the
previous meeting.
8. Adjournment: The Fire Commission meeting was adjourned at 5:10 p.m. The next meeting is
tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, January 8, 2020.
