jurisdictional wetland. As this area is County-owned land that is not leased by the City of San
Rafael, the tree selection and planting shall be done in consultation with the County of Marin.
e . A reclaimed water connection is required for this project. The reclaimed water source for
irrigating the landscape area shall be provided by MMWD.
The final landscape and irrigation plan shall comply with the Marin Municipal Water District
(MMWD) Water Conservation Ordinance 430. Written verification (letter/memo/email) shall be
submitted to the City confirming that the final plan has been approved by MMWD.
5. The final building elevations and colors plan shall be reviewed by the Design Review Board.
Consideration shall be given to introducing a more vibrant color scheme. The final elevation plans
shall include the design details and illumination for the proposed station signage.
7. Final exterior building materials and colors shall be reviewed by the DeSign Review Board and
approved by the Planning Division.
The final plans have been revised, which are explained in the attached statement from Mary McGrath
Architects (Attachment 2). In addition, the project architect has prepared a colored elevation showing
the selected building materials and colors (Attachment 3). The final color and material board will be
presented to the Board at the DRB meeting. A reduced-size set of the plans approved with the
Environmental and Design Review Permit action are provided to the Board for background and
compliance review
ANALYSIS
The final plans are in compliance with the required conditions of approval. Staff presents the following
comments:
1. As required, four Coast Redwoods will be planted in the Golf Avenue right-of-way to assist in
screening the rear of the fire station structure. The mature palm tree located near the rear
property line will be removed and replanted at the same location .
2. The landscape area located south of the future storage building (adjacent to 18 Golf Avenue)
has been modified to address storm water requirements . In this area, one White Crape Myrtle
and one London Plane tree are proposed to provide screening for the adjacent residence.
3 . The landscape area east of the wetland is proposed to be planted with five London Plane trees.
As indicated in the permit condition, this area will be maintained by the County of Marin .
4. As described by the project architect, the exterior colors have been modified.
OUTREACH & NOTICING
Notice of the Design Review Board meeting was provided to property owners and residents within 300
feet of the subject property . In addition, notice of the meeting was provided to the North San Rafael
Coalition and several of the neighborhood associations within the area of the project site.
