DESIGN REVIEW BOARD MEMORANDUM
SUBJECT: 1000 Fourth Street (Courthouse Square Building Repainting) —Environmental and Design
Review Permit for repainting of the eight (8) story Courthouse Square office building located
at 1000 Fourth St; APN: 11-216-01; 4SRC District Zone; Geary -Market Investment Co.
Applicant/Owner; Downtown Neighborhood.
Discussion:
This item was reviewed on October 8 and continued subject to review of paint -outs in the field. The
item was placed on the November 5, 2013 meeting agenda but continued at the applicants request to
allow time to pursue a revised color scheme that would replace the light "doe skin" and "coffee diva"
color scheme (due to the fact that the doe skin color was considered to be too light for the 8 story
courthouse square building).
The applicant has provided revised paint outs with a similar, but darker, scheme consisting of Country
Rubble and Cookie Crumb. Staff supports the revised scheme and recommends that the Board visit
the site prior to the December 3 meeting to review the paint outs provided in the field, and approve the
color scheme on consent.
As a reminder, the color scheme for the office buildings would be applied as follows:
• Eight story building Country Rubble
• Center Tower Cookie Crumb
• Two story B of A building
o Top: Country Rubble
o Base: Cookie Crumb
