SUBJECT: ACCEPT COMPLETION OF THE 2008 ADA CURB RAMP PROJECT
(PROJECT # 15006) AND AUTHORIZE THE CITY CLERK TO FILE A NOTICE OF
COMPLETION
BACKGROUND:
The 2008 ADA Curb Ramp Project was advertised on December 5, 2008 and opened bids on
December 23, 2008. The Contractor and the lowest bidder for the project was Ghilotti .Brothers,
Inc. The design Consultant for the project was Harris & Associates, Inc. They surveyed the sites
and prepared construction documents for approximately 101 ramps. The project management
and daily inspection was performed by the City.
A total of 54 ramps were built in the Terra Linda, Canal and Downtown San Rafael areas. Staff
also added additional sidewalk, curb and gutter quantities to the original bid items to improve
and repair the immediate areas surrounding the new ramps.
Due to time restrictions on the federal funds, the contractor was required to complete
construction and submit all invoices by March 31, 2009.
PROJECT UPDATE:
The project construction was completed on March 25, 2009, and the City Engineer has
recommended acceptance of the project and recordation of a Notice of Completion for the
project.
PROJECT SUMMARY:
The Engineer's Estimate was $322,626.00. Project Inspection and Management was done by the
City. The final cost for the project was $322,152.63.

ANALYSIS:
Pursuant to Civil Code Section 3033 the City, owner of the improvements, is required to record a
Notice of Completion upon acceptance of the improvements by the City. This acceptance
initiates a time period during which project sub contractors may file Stop Notices seeking
payment from the City out of the funds owed to the Contractor for the project work.
ACTION REQUIRED:
Accept completion of the 2008 ADA Ramp Project (Project #15006) and authorize the City
Clerk to file a Notice of Completion.

TO ALL PERSONS WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN for and on behalf of the City of San Rafael, County of Marin, State of
California, that there has been a cessation of labor upon the work or improvement and that said work
or improvement was completed upon the 25th day of March, 2009 and accepted by the City Council
the 20th day of April 2009; that the name, address and nature of the title of the party giving this notice
is as follows: The City of San Rafael, a municipal corporation, in the County of Marin, State of
California, within the boundaries of which said work or improvement was made upon land owned by
said City and/or over which said City has an easement; that said work or improvement is described as
follows:

and reference is hereby made for a further description thereof to the plans and specifications approved
for said work or improvements now on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City, and said plans
