RECOMMENDATION: Approve Resolution.
BACKGROUND: The fourth 8ODU8| KAahD County Triathlon will be held Saturday and 8UDd3y
morning, November and 6 beginning at MCN8@r'S Beach County Park. This is @ not for profit
event produced by the Sustainable Sports FOUOd8UOD, and the net pnJD9ed3 this year will g0 to
the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Friends of China Camp.
Last year's event had GDamazing response from the public and athletes 8Swell 8Sbroad media
attention. UpiUfour hundred local and national athletes will participate iDthe event.
The Sustainable Sports Foundation has contacted Peacock Gap residents in and informed them
Of this year's event. The promoter has the responsibility to CDOt8Ct and inform all affected
residents of the t8rnpO[8ry C|oSuF8 and to provide COni8{t iOf0008tiOO to staff for any issues that
may occur during the event hours.

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CLOSURE OF PT. SAN PEDRO ROAD FROM
RIVIERA DRIVE TO BISCAYNE DRIVE FOR MARIN COUNTY TRIATHLON ON
NOVEMBER 5 FROM 8 TO 10 AM AND ON NOVEMBER 6, 2011
FROM 6:30 AM TO I PM.
WHEREAS, the fourth annual Marin County Triathlon necessitates the temporary closure of Point
San Pedro Road from Riviera Drive to Biscayne Drive, on Saturday November 5 from 8 to 10 a.m.
and on Sunday, November 6 from 6:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.; and
WHEREAS, after reviewing plans for the event and the traffic patterns, City staff has determined
and recommended that, in the interest of the safety and welfare of pedestrian and auto traffic in the
Peacock Gap area, the above street should be temporarily closed to through traffic for the date and
times described above.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL HEREBY RESOLVES AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That all of the above findings are true and correct.
2. That, pursuant to the authority of Vehicle Code section 21101(e), for the safety and protection
of persons, both pedestrians and vehicle drivers, the City Council hereby authorizes the
temporary closure of the above listed street for the date and times described above.
