Myreasons for wanting 10serve are:
My reasons for wanting to serve are simple: I have a strong desire to improve the bicycle and ped-estrian
experience here in San Rafael for both our residents, and for those visiting our community. That includes
improvements to safety, accessibility, infrastructure, and simply the general biker and walker
experience.
I am a resident of the Montecito Neighborhood, and really enjoy the ability to walk and bike throughout
our town. I also see a lot of room for improvement. I think that walkable and bikeable communities not
only improve quality of life and public health, but contribute to vibrant commercial corridors and a
community's sense of pride. I am a strong advocate for incentivizing other residents to take advantage
of our walk -able and bike -able town and think that while we have something to be proud of, there is a
lot more that we could do to make the experience safer, easier, and more enjoyable. I currently serve on
the8PA[ having filled a vacant position in spring 2014, and serve on the subcommittee working to
revise the committee's charter. I feel that I have a lot more to contribute to the committee and the City
and would be honored to continue to serve as a citizen advocate for bicyclists and pedestrians.
| have been along-time cyclist and amfortunate tolive inapart ofour City that allows metowalk
almost every day to meet my basic needs. I understand the challenges faced by bicyclists and
pedestrians in our community. During the week, I am an Environmental Planner and Project Manager at
a technical services consulting firm, and have worked to help implement planning directives in other Bay
Area communities. As a rather new resident to San Rafael, parent, and relatively young member of the
community, | think | would bring the unique and representative perspective ofSan Rafae|'syoung
families that will ultimately be enjoying the bicycle and pedestrian improvements you implement. I
would like to work hard to help San Rafael be the best it can. I hope that you will consider my
application for the vacant committee positions, and I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
DJ Allison

.Kevin Ijagertj7°.s reasons for Nvanting to serve are.
I arn verx, interested in working on pedestrian and bicycle safety issues. With the
growing numbers of bicyclists and pedestrians on the road, it will be important the
City, work, with the bicvcle community and pedestrians to develop strategies to
enhance safety. I believe my experience and commitment to this issue make me an
excellent candidate f®r the position.
As a fornier Department I -lead 'for the Customer Access Department at BAR -F, I
had jurisdiction over BART's Bicycle Program, and in that role developed good
work -Ing relationships with the bicycle community. MY Department also worked
with BARF planners and engineering in designing and implementing station
improven-ients with an emphasis toward pedestrian safety. As Chairperson of the
Point San Pedro Road Coalition's Roadway; Committee, I am currently working
L_
witthe Marin Bicycle Coalition, Citi staff and other `coups on a, safety programh
for Point San Pedro Road.
I believe that pedestrians don't get the attention they deserve. It is important that
the City continue to develop and maintain a safe environment that creates a
situation where more people feel comfortable walking. I Would like to be part of
this effort.
