Modeled on Existing Successful Programs — SF,
Berkeley, Oakland,, Long Beach etc.
Pilot program: Up to 4'street dining' spaces in
downtown - might remove up to 8 parking spaces
Business to sponsor project, pay for construction,
provide insurance, sign agreement with city
Council to approve pilot program upfront and
staff to handle details of each project

What's a Parklet? Why.?
Typically involve involve a platform that extends sidewalk
and provides seating, tables, landscaping, bike racks,
art, and other features
• Allow businesses to convert parking spaces in front
of store to pedestrian & bicycle amenity
• Seating & people increases street vibrancy—
6. successful parklets add to downtown quality of life
Strong support for parklet-style program from BID
