SUMMARY BACKGROUN
Interviews from
5:00 - 5:30 p.m.
At the meeting of March 18, 2013, the City Council Called for Applications to Fill Two Four -Year Terms to
the End of April 2017 on the Board of Library Trustees Due to the Expiration of Terms of Glena Coleman
and Carol Manishil. Six applications were received in the City Clerk's Office by the deadline of April 9,

EXPLANATION:
Glena Coleman has indicated she does not wish to continue. As Carol Manishil, who is unable to be

Application to serve as member of the Board of Library Trustees
Participation in the following civic activities:
Marin Theatre Company — Usher
Integrated Community Services — Volunteer for Annual Blue Jean Ball fundraiser

(JCCSF), I set up free programs for Older Adults with Bread and Roses, Jewish Vocational Services, SF
Symphony, SF Ballet, SF Opera, Pocket Opera, Bureau of Jewish Education Library, San Francisco
Chamber Orchestra, among others. I also set up the Library on Wheels with the San Francisco Public
Library for monthly visits to the JCCSF. I have run a monthly book club at the JCCSF for five plus years.
I have attached a flyer for the Sixth Annual Art of Aging Gracefully which is an event that I
conceptualized, organize and run each year. It is free and open to the community and it brings together
approximately 50 businesses and organizations along with sponsorship through UCSF Medical Center.
Member of the following civic organizations:
MALT— Marin Agricultural Land Trust
Rafael Film Institute
KPFA —Listener Sponsored Free Radio
San Francisco SPCA
Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco
Jewish Community Center of San Francisco and Osher Marin Jewish Community Center
Council of Agencies Serving the Elderly and American Society on Aging
Matrix, Parent Network and Resource Center, past Board Member
National Council of Jewish Women, Marin Section, former member
My reasons for wanting to serve are:
I have worked at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco for over 10 years. I think that libraries
are also community centers. They are offer so many services to the community at no cost and are
gathering places and centers for learning. I am also a very frequent patron of the library system. I
believe that libraries will continue to evolve and serve as places for technology, programming and
resource exchange. I would very much appreciate the opportunity to participate in the growth and
challenges facing the library over the next four years.
