HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Resolution 13773 (BID Arts Celebration)RESOLUTION NO. 13773 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF DOWNTOWN CITY STREETS TO ACCOMMODATE BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT'S CELEBRATION OF ARTS EVENT ON FRIDAY, AUGUST 8, 2014 FROM 3 PM TO 9 PM. WHEREAS, The Business Improvement District's Celebration of Arts event will take place in downtown San Rafael on Friday, August 8; and WHEREAS, After reviewing plans for the event and traffic patterns, City staff recommends that in the interest of the safety and welfare of pedestrian and auto traffic in the downtown area, the streets shown below should be closed to through traffic for the following date and times: Street to be closed on August 8, 2014 from 3 PM to 9 PM: 1. Fourth Street from C to D Street NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of San Rafael does hereby find: 1. That all of the above findings are true and correct; 2. That, pursuant to the authority of Vehicle Code section 21101(e), for the safety and protection of persons, both pedestrians and vehicle drivers, the City Council hereby authorizes the temporary closure of the streets for the date and times listed above.
