CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
RESOUTION OF 11PPRECIRTION

ALBERT J. BORO
WHEREAS, Albert J. Boro was elected to the San Rafael City Council in 1987 after serving 16 years as a member of the
San Rafael Planning Commission, and he was first elected Mayor of the City of San Rafael in 1991 and then
reelected for four additional terms in 1995, 1999, 2103 and 2007; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Baro, has served with distinction on a wide array of County and regional boards, among them the
Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District, Sonoma -Marin Area Rail Transit, Transportation
Authority of Marin, Marin County Fair Board and Marin County Parks and Open Space; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Boro has worked tirelessly with a cross section of San Rafael business leaders and residents,
collaborative efforts that have underscored the City's role as the commercial and cultural hub of Marin
County; and
WHEREAS, he has served with a mayor and 12 council members over the past 24 years to revitalize San Rafael's
Downtown, to make the Canal neighborhood an integral part of the larger community and to provide a safe
and economically vibrant community for all San Rafael residents and businesses; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Burn's passion for San Rafael has contributed mightily to a variety of vital public and private sector
projects which have changed the face of San Rafael and shaped its future, among them the Pickleweed
Community Center and Library, the Rafael Film Center, the San Rafael Corporate Center, Rafael Town
Center and City Plaza, Parkside Childcare, West End Village, and others equally important but too numerous
to mention here; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Burn's leadership has been marked by collaboration, communication, compassion and of course
humor, the latter particularly necessary given his status as Marin County's only registered Republican; and
WHEREAS, however sincere, mere words on a page cannot capture our feelings for all that Mayor Boro has given to the
City of San Rafael, and the generosity he has consistently demonstrated during his time of public service.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of San Rafael does hereby express its heartfelt
gratitude to Mayor Albert J. Boro for his 40 years of compassionate, caring and inclusive governance in service to San Rafael's
residents, businesses, neighborhoods, civic organizations and City staff,
