CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
PRESENTS THIS
RESOUITION OF 11PPRECIATION
TO
Dana Melnichek
Employee of the First Quarter of 2008
WHEREAS, Dana began working for the City on January 15, 2001 as a Cultural Affairs
Assistant at the Falkirk Cultural Center and transferred to Management Services
after three plus years of program support for the Community Services
Department. Dana has been in her current position as Administrative Assistant
to the City Manager since June 21, 2004 and does an extraordinary job of
juggling her day-to-day duties with keeping the Mayor's calendar, contacts,
meetings, messages, appointments, e-mails, meal planning and travel schedule
on track; and
WHEREAS, Dana realized within 24 hours of moving `across the street' that the Mayor and
City Manager office operations are quite a different venue, and that Room 203 at
City Hall has its own set of culture, and
WHEREAS, Dana has been essential in helping the City Manager & Mayor's office operate
smoothly in times of change, including the transition of a new Assistant City
Manager, Assistant to the City Manager, Administrative Assistant, and two
Councilmembers; and
WHEREAS, Dana was a member of the City's Telephone Committee, initiated a new filing
system for City Policies, has been involved in planning the annual Employee
Holiday Luncheon, and assisted in coordinating the Employee Service Awards
program; and
WHEREAS, Dana treats everyone with kindness and respect. She is positive, cheerful and
friendly in all her interactions and remains calm even during very hectic times.
Dana responds to every request, be it from the Mayor, fellow staff or the public,
in a timely manner and never says "I can't". Dana represents the spirit,
cooperation and compassion of one who serves the public in the very best way.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council of the City of San Rafael
hereby designate Dana Melnichek as "Employee of the Quarter" for the first quarter of 2008 and express
sincere appreciation for her dedication, professionalism and outstanding service to the City of San Rafael.
