RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR, PURSUANT
TO SRMC SECTIONS 2.55.190 & 2.55.200, TO CONTRACT FOR THE PURCHASE OF
NEW COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT AND FINANCE DIVISION FURNITURE,
FIXTURES AND EQUIPMENT BY USE OF COMPETITIVE NEGOTIATION
WHEREAS, a portion of the third floor of City Hall has been vacated by the Public
Works Department in their relocation to a new Corporation Yard building; and
WHEREAS, plans have been prepared by Hannum Associates for expansion of the
Community Development Department and Finance Division of the Management Services
Department into this vacated space; and
WHEREAS, Hannum Associates has also prepared specifications and bid documents
for purchase of furnishings for the space to be remodeled; and
WHEREAS, options exist for the selection of different furnishings, including new
workstations by the same manufacturer as those presently existing elsewhere on the third
floor, replica workstations of similar design by other manufacturers and reconditioned
workstations, the cost of which is likely to vary significantly; and
WHEREAS, due to these options, a competitive, negotiated bid process in accordance
with sections 2.55.190 and 2.55.200 of the San Rafael Municipal Code would be more
appropriate.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the San Rafael City Council that the
Community Development Director is authorized, pursuant to sections 2.55.190 and 2.55.200
to contract for the purchase of furniture, fixtures and equipment for the remodel of the third
floor of City Hall by use of the competitive negotiation process.

foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the
Council of said City on Monday, the 4th of August, 2003 by the following vote, to wit:
