PRESENTS THIS
RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION
TO
Jeannette Sotomenj or
Whereas, Jeannette Sotomayor was recognized by Assemblymember Joe Nation on Monday,
March 18, 2002 as Women of the Year for District Six for her selfless commitment to
community, and
Whereas, Jeannette came to the United States to escape the horrors of war in Nicaragua and now
makes San Rafael her home, and
Whereas, Jeannette volunteers endless hours to such programs as Jardin Infantil del Canal,
Companeras Program, teaches CPR and First Aid classes in Spanish, and
Whereas, Jeannette serves on the Pickleweed Advisory Board, is a member of the Canal Healthy
Neighborhood program, and is a recipient of the San Francisco Foundation's Koshland
Civic Unity Award, and
Whereas, Jeannette brings a warm heart and a big smile to everything she does.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council of the City of San
Rafael hereby express their deepest appreciation to Jeannette Sotomayor for her commitment to the
City of San Rafael and especially the residents who live in the Canal Neighborhoods.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the council congratulates Ms. Sotomayor for being selected
Woman of the Year for Assembly District Six
